December 2012 – Project Updates
Salem Neighborhood Associations and City Council have been discussing the project over the last few months. City Council discussion regarding a recommended Locally Preferred Alternative is expected to continue into January 2013. The other involved jurisdictions (City of Keizer, Polk County, Marion County, Salem Keizer Transit District) will also be discussing a Locally Preferred Alternative recommendation during this time frame. All of the local jurisdictions must reach consensus on a Locally Preferred Alternative (which would take place at an Oversight Team meeting, to be scheduled in spring 2013).

June 2012 – Draft EIS Comment Period Closed
The Salem River Crossing’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) official comment period (April 20 to June 18) has closed. Thank you to everyone that read and commented on the document, whether online, via letters, or in person at the two public hearings/open houses.You can still take an short,informal poll to let the project team know what you think about the alternatives (open through July 1). This poll will be used by local decision makers to understand the feelings of local residents, businesses, and agencies regarding the bridge alternatives.

April 2012 – Draft EIS Available for Review
The Salem River Crossing’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is available for your review between April 20 and June 18. The draft EIS examines and compares the impacts and benefits of bridge alternatives in three corridors across the Willamette River in Salem. You can read and comment on the document online or at a variety of locations, including at two public hearings/open houses on May 8 and May 17. Information in the Draft EIS will be used to select a preferred alternative. Your input is important, so please review the document now and submit your comments.

You can also read the Draft EIS at several locations in the Salem-Keizer area. These locations will have the full Draft EIS and the Executive Summary (in English and Spanish). You can also pick up a comment form at these locations (you will need to mail the comment form to ODOT Region 2 / 455 Airport Road SE, Building B / Salem, OR 97301-5395).

February 2012 – Draft EIS soon ready for your review

The Salem River Crossing’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) will be available soon for your review. Information in the Draft EIS will be used to select a preferred alternative. Your input is important.

First, place your order for the Draft EIS. Then review later this spring:

• Read it online. Join the mailing list if you want to get an email when the document is ready for your review.
• Read a CD or printed version (just the executive summary or the full Draft EIS). You can order a copy of your own [correction April 2012: you can no longer request a copy of the printed document, but you can read it on this website.] or read it at several public locations (including libraries, city halls).
